Meet the Principal

My name is Richard Swanson.  I am a husband to a wonderful wife and father to three beautiful daughters.  All of us are very grateful for being a part of the great learning community here in Byron.  I am starting my 20th year in education.  I spent ten years teaching in the middle/high school science classroom and coaching before becoming a Principal.  My personal philosophy of education is built upon two pillars.  We will build relationships with students and lead each of them to true learning.  As I start my fourth year at BMS, I am very excited about the direction we are heading.  Working with adolescent youth is our passion and we will continue to build a program that meets the diverse needs of every student.  We will continue to meet our vision and inspire our students to learn at deep and personal levels.  I want to thank each of you for playing a part in educating our students.  Byron is a great community that works together to provide and guarantee the best learning for our students.  Go BEARS!
